April 16, 2011

Many of my friends are involved in outrageous athletic events today, such as the MS 150 and Avon Walk for the Cure. Before noon on a Saturday these people have walked 10 miles or ridden their bicycles 35 miles. So far, my athletic adventures for the day have been to walk to the kitchen and make myself a bowl of cereal. And who can forget the extremely rigorous left-thumb action I've exerted while changing the channels on the television with the "flipper."

Today I'm creating some reading time. A friend suggested a book, "The Gifts of Imperfection." The topic is letting go of who you think you're supposed to be and embracing who you are. This is such a timely topic for me right now as I continue my journey from self-doubt to feeling worthy and relevant. So in this regard, I assert that I deserve time on a Saturday to just sit around for a few hours — in my pajamas — and read.
