"If you can't do this, get out of the business!"

Dr. Mc and Big Daddy watching the performance of
The Suffers at an after party in NYC. He looks so proud!
I shed tears of joy last night as I watched Big Daddy and The Suffers perform on The Late Show with David Letterman. The show was taped earlier in the day and we had received text messages from Dr. Mc and Big Daddy about the performance, including Dave commenting after their performance, "If you can't do this, get out of the business!"

Not only did I enjoy the performance (I've probably watched it a dozen times already), but as Dave is congratulating Kam in the foreground, behind them I saw Alex (Nick's younger brother who plays the guitar in the band) turn around and walk to Big Daddy. They high-fived, fist-bumped, and had big smiles for one another. If Big Daddy could have jumped over his drum set I'm sure there would have been hugs between the brothers. Their parents were in NYC to see their sons perform. What a joy that must have been for them!

Today I'm creating a day of rest. Mr. Baby and I met Mitzie for breakfast. I'm trying to convince him that it's now time for a long nap, but he is fighting it. Such a silly little prince.

GO Nick Zamora, Alex Zamora, Kam Franklin and the rest of The Suffers. So proud of everyone and can't wait to watch you on David Letterman tonight!

This is an exciting day! Dr. Mc left Houston on Saturday to fly to NYC to be with Big Daddy and The Suffers tonight when they play on The Late Show with David Letterman. They've been posting photos all day on Facebook and I have been sharing them on my Facebook page.

Here's one of the photos that was posted this morning of Big Daddy setting up his drums on the television set. He has on his Jones High School Falcon cap. He and Dr. Mac were in the Vanguard program at Jones High School. Nick was, of course, in the band and drum core. So sweet that he hasn't forgotten his Houston roots and is wearing his cap.

Today I'm creating the beginning plans for five events that will take place in April. I've also written an invitation and pulled up the May calendar to start scheduling events. I seem to be doing more and more events, and less and less long-form writing.

Mr. Baby has been a grumpy little bear the past two afternoons. He doesn't like anything and especially not napping, which is the only time he isn't fussing. Actually, he likes everything for up to five minutes, at which time he starts fussing again.

Right now he is sound asleep and looking so peaceful. He should sleep for an hour to 90 minutes. We'll see.

Today I'm creating baby xanax (just kidding, although I'm tempted). Really I have been working on final plans for four events that are taking place this weekend. But tonight, I'm creating homemade burgers for Mr. B, Dr. Mc and me. I haven't done this in at least a year. Let's see. Friday night at home with burgers, margaritas and a movie. It doesn't get any better!

It wouldn't be the worst thing in the world if I only blogged every other day or once a week. I'm using that as an excuse for not blogging everyday. What would be even better is if I slowed down and had more time to do what I enjoy and really like, and stopped with the rest of the activities.

I don't want to seem as if I'm complaining about what has been going on this week! Monday night we had dinner with the family and last night Mr. B and I went to see Big Daddy's band (The Suffers) play a short set at M Penner. Terrific evening! This afternoon The Suffers left for parts East, including NYC for the David Letterman show on Monday, March 30.

Today I'm creating too much to mention. Around 3:30 p.m. I got a cancellation notice from a bus charter company for rentals this coming Saturday and Sunday. In Houston this weekend is the Shell Houston Open as well as Bayou City Art Festival so buses are at a premium. I had to call six other companies before I could get a confirmation, but I got it done.

Look at the innocence of Mr. Baby's little face! When the picture was taken, he was enjoying (through his baby ear muffs) the sounds and sights of SXSW. Understand that my crystal ball isn't making any projections, but I think TLP has great opportunities and a wonderful life ahead of him. To paraphrase the Dos Equis man (I love his voice!), stay positive my friend!

Tonight we're going as a family to celebrate Mr. B's birthday. His birthday was actually last Thursday. Dr. Mc, Big Daddy and Mr. Baby were in Austin at SXSW. Sweetness and Girafferty were in Big Bend. So Mr. B and I had a private dinner for two at La Griglia (yummy).

Today I'm creating final touches for the pop-up party that is taking place on Sunday. For some reason, I can't get the rental company to call me back. So frustrating!

Friday, March 20, 2015

Do you love this picture of Mr. Baby or what? Last night he went with his mama to Austin so they could attend SXSW. Big Daddy was already there. This picture was taken this afternoon while the Houston Zamoras were visiting with some of the Austin family.

You can see TLP is being held up from behind, but it looks like he is standing on his own with his bottle, bib and ear muffs. I guess the music was just too loud for the little man.

Today I'm creating lunch with friend Candy. We had a delicious lunch at Hugo's. After several margaritas, I came home and had a long nap.

I must be getting back into the swing of working more hours. I've been at the office all day and I'm still awake. That's a good thing.

Mr. Baby and I watched Dancing With the Stars last night. He loves music! He would watch the dances and kick his feet. Then when the talking started he would play with something or look away or fuss. When I play The Suffers' music (Big Daddy's band) on my computer, TLP will stop what he is doing and listen to the music.

Today I'm creating phone calls to vendors to source lighting for an event. I also wrote two invitations and had lunch with a friend. It's all good.

Happy Monday, if there is such a thing. Actually, my Monday went well. I didn't sleep much last weekend so I slept a little later than usual this morning.

My afternoon was productive, but with several events taking place in the next two weeks, I'm feeling a bit nervous. For the biggest event at the end of the month I have to turn an ugly warehouse space into industrial chic on a relatively small budget. Someone is also neglecting to keep me informed of the latest details, which makes the planning very frustrating.

Today I'm creating smiles on Mr. Baby's sweet face. Sure I got work done, but I'd much rather talk about feeding TLP cereal for dinner, planting "raspberries" on his stomach while he giggles, and kissing his sweet cheeks.

Thursday, March 12, 2015

After two days of a stomach virus I'm feeling on the mend today, but not well enough to crawl under the bed to find matching shoes. As I result I have on two different shoes. It's a good thing Mr. Baby won't notice.

I haven't seen the TLP since Monday. It's a good thing that Big Daddy is between band tours because he has been available to stay Aulay. I didn't want to be around TLP while I was sick.

Today I'm creating nothing. Instead I'm laying back. I am washing clothes and sheets to get rid of all the germs. And disinfections are my friend.

It has been a business week. My new work agreement doesn't seem to be working out as I thought it would. Working part-time on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays seems to be expanding to working most nights from home as well as Thursdays, Fridays and sometimes the weekend. This isn't what I signed on for, so now the decision is, what do I do? Mr. B and I have discussed options for the past two days and I think I have a counter offer to make.

Big Daddy got home early Tuesday morning from his three-week band tour and I don't think he has put Mr. Baby down. I only got to see TLP for five minutes yesterday. He gave me a toothless grin that will last me for a few days. There are also 500+ photos and videos of Mr. Baby online for me to look at when I need a fix.

Today I'm creating a space inspection for an event at the end of March. Next I'm meeting an artist to hang her work in an office space. Then I'm shopping for a political rally I'm coordinating. I'll probably get home around 9 p.m. tonight. All the running around is tiring for this sexagenarian.

Sunday, March 1, 2015

As expected, the year is clicking along. It seems like yesterday that Mr. Baby was coming home from the hospital and we were planning our first holiday season with him. Now it's March 1.

I couldn't sleep last night so I watched the movie Philadelphia with Tom Hanks and Denzel Washington. I kept thinking about how views on HIV/AIDS have changed since the movie was released in 1993. Nobody knew what it was or how it was transmitted. People were afraid to be touch anyone with HIV or AIDS. The movie left me thinking about friends who have died. And I had forgotten that Bruce Springsteen's song, "The Streets of Philadelphia" is so beautiful and haunting.

Today I'm creating order in my craft room. Hummm. That seems to be a reoccurring theme in my life.
